About the Artist:
A native New Englander, Rita has
been a student of art the better part of her life. Raised in a family
appreciative of nature, she found herself at an early age trying to
recapture her recent vacation memories on Cape Cod, Northern New
England and Canada.
At the age of 12 she was recognized as a child artist and
sponsored by WBZ in Needham, Ma. She won a summer at a art and
horse back riding camp which motivated her in the study of animals and
the love of horses. From there her life revolved around riding,
painting, whittling birds and pottery.
Her paintings capture the changing light and shadow and subtle
hints of foliage in her landscapes. She paints in both watercolor and
oil, or pastel. Mostly self taught in the early part of her life, she
studied art with Bernie Gerstner, North Shore, Paul George, North
Shore, Joseph Arsenault, Portrait, North Shore, Andrew Kusmin NWA South
Shore, Robert Mesrop, NWA South Shore, also attended many workshops
over the years.
She currently teaches drawing at the COA in Plymouth. She is
featured in the Fleur De Lis gallery in Bemidji,Minnesota, currently
showing at the Trowbridge tavern with the Painted ladies in Bourne.
Rita is very active with the painted ladies of Cape Cod.

Shore art assoc. Rockport art assoc. BWAA in Bourne/ Wareham, Falmouth
