About the Artist:
Judy Quinn was born in Kenya. She was educated
in Tanzania and England and emigrated to the United States in 1965.
She studied photography at Project Inc., in Cambridge, printmaking
at DeCordova Museum School, papermaking at the School of the Museum
of Fine Arts, Boston. Her works have been shown in solo and group
shows throughout the New England area and have been published in
several publications. She taught photography in the Newton Community
School program for eight years. Judy has been an Artist in Residence
at Artist Proof Studio, in Johannesburg, South Africa since 1996,
and at Northern Territory University, Darwin, Australia in 2000.
This artist’s work has been concerned with the intermingling of
photography, printmaking and papermaking. In this way she produced
works that dealt with layers, both visual and metaphorical. Since
2001 she has been studying painting. Her canvases and encaustic
paintings were shown in a recent one person show at the Sparrow
House Museum, Plymouth, Mass. Judy works at Studio Watermark with
artist Linda Vopat at 26 Howland Street, Plymouth, Mass.
