About the artist: Maureen is an award winning representational watercolor artist who has been painting in watercolor for 30 years. Formal studies and Fine Art studio work include New York’s Parsons School of Design and the Art Center of Northern New Jersey. Moving to Massachusetts ten years ago she has exhibited widely throughout New England. Juried shows include the New England Watercolor Society, both National and Regional shows and the Academic Artists National Show. She has also exhibited at the Krause Gallery, Providence, The
Commonwealth Museum, Boston and the Interchurch Gallery, NYC.
In the past year she has won a variety of awards in juried exhibitions, most recently at the Art Complex Museum, Duxbury, The Rhode Island Watercolor Society and at the Catherine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club 111th National Exhibition in NYC where she received the Katherine A. Lovell Award.

“As an artist my goal is to capture what I see and experience in the world around me. The power of color, influenced by light and atmosphere and put down on bright white paper. I love the spontaneity of watercolor with its beautiful transparency and juicy color. Laying down those first washes is still so exciting for me, whether landscape, seascape, cityscape or still life, the reward is infinite”.

“I want the viewer to want to be there… to have them step into the painting”.

Maureen has also illustrated numerous children’s books. Her first book “E is for Empire” won the NY State Reading Association Charlotte Award. She is also a contributing illustrator to “P is for Passport” a 2003 MIPA Merit Award Winner.
She has donated and contributed her talents in many areas including a large wall mural (24’x8’) for the Emergency Pediatric Center at South Shore Hospital.
Her paintings are in private and corporate collections around the country and overseas.
